Types of Alignment

Understanding the types of alignment means understanding the full complexity of this procedure. It might seem to you that some problems can be solved independently. Alignment by smoothing/tapping method

This method is relevant when the problem can be accessed from the inside. This is a very difficult process — you need to disassemble the body at the damaged area. Then, on the part to be processed, we mark the dent. There must be a support surface on the opposite side.

Vacuum alignment

Vacuum alignment is used if there is no significant damage to the car’s paintwork. We fix the suction cups to the body with a vacuum. Then the metal is pulled out with a slide hammer. The vacuum alignment method allows you to quickly correct dents up to 10 cm in diameter. This method is also called paintless dent repair (PDR).

Spotter alignment

This method allows you to eliminate dents when there is no access to the damaged area. Spotter alignment is suitable for leveling sills, doors, roof pillars, rear fenders, or body parts. Usually, masters cannot eliminate this by smoothing and tapping from the inside.

Body repair is a complete restoration of the car body’s geometry, which may include the entire complex of alignment methods.
