The car air-conditioner has failed—what is the cause?

Any A/C repair starts with checking for refrigerant leaks. We inspect all hoses, the compressor and other system parts, and measure pressure. If we record zero pressure, we connect nitrogen and evaluate how the system responds to pressure levels.
1.Restoring A/C tightness
We begin by eliminating leaks. Small cracks in metal pipes are repaired with argon welding. If cracks are large or numerous, or if vibration has thinned the pipe walls, the A/C pipes must be replaced. We fit new rubber O-rings and recommend installing a new filter-drier at the same time.

Once tightness has been restored to withstand high pressure, we fill the system with refrigerant. Before that we carry out vacuuming to remove moisture. If this step is skipped, all parts containing metal will oxidize, shortening their service life.

2.Cleaning the evaporator and condenser
If dust collects on the inner plates of the evaporator it causes unpleasant odors. Over time microbes and even mold can appear in the cabin. In that case we remove the trim, take out the evaporator and clean its exterior with various disinfectant solutions.
The external condenser can also lose heat-transfer efficiency when clogged. The inside of the fins can become coated, reducing refrigerant circulation. A complete internal and external cleaning of the condenser solves this problem.
