Installing cruise control – what type to choose

What types of cruise control exist? For simplicity, two main options can be distinguished:

The simplest type is CCS, designed to maintain a constant speed of the vehicle regardless of whether the car is moving on a flat or inclined surface. The driver does not need to use the accelerator pedal. If the road situation forces them, it is enough to add gas. However, when you release the accelerator pedal, the car will return to the set speed.
ACC, or adaptive cruise control, is much more technologically advanced. Cars equipped with this type of cruise control can adjust speed depending on the intensity of traffic, maintain a distance to the car in front, change the lane and even, if necessary, stop the vehicle.

Active or adaptive cruise control – what is it and how does it work?

Adaptive cruise control, which is installed at our station, is a more technological device compared to the basic version. For proper operation, it needs a special radar mounted on the front of the car. More often it is located on the front grille or bumper.

The radar monitors the road conditions and transmits the data to the controller. You can activate active cruise control by accelerating to the appropriate speed, using the switch or button to maintain this speed, and also accelerating and decelerating using the buttons on the steering wheel or switch.

The difference is that the adaptive cruise control automatically brakes the car to maintain the correct distance to the car in front. What this distance will be depends on the value programmed in the settings by the driver.
