According to standards, there must be precise distances between specific points on the car body. This is essential for proper functioning of door mechanisms, wheel alignment, and tight fitting of the hood and rear doors.

During the body geometry inspection, the following vehicle parameters are checked:

• width of the front and rear wheel tracks;

• wheelbase distance;

• length of the frame rails and the distance between them;

• diagonals of window and door openings, engine bay, trunk, and cabin.

The most critical data comes from the distances between the frame rails of the suspension, as shifting of structural frame elements disrupts their operation.

Body geometry can be compromised due to two main reasons:

• mechanical damage;

• driving on uneven road surfaces.

Stages of Restoring Body Geometry

To measure the body geometry, the following tools are used:

• scale ruler;

• caliper;

• tape measure.

During measurements, distances between the axles on both sides, diagonals between control points, and cross distances between wheels on the same axle are assessed. Measurements are taken using two instruments simultaneously for maximum accuracy.

The car is positioned above an inspection pit, and some parts may be removed to access key measurement points. Based on the results, the technician can determine whether body repairs are necessary. These measurements are especially useful when checking a used car before purchase.

Diagnostics
The first stage is diagnostics. At this stage, our specialists test the car’s body geometry using a specialized measurement system. Professional equipment allows the detection of even the slightest deviations from the factory standards for the specific car model.

Restoration
The next stage is the actual correction of the body geometry. Restoration is carried out using modern specialized equipment – a straightening bench, also known as a frame machine.

The frame machine allows for the repair of damage of any complexity and the restoration of the car’s original shape. During the repair process, the car body is secured on a special platform, after which the damaged area is clamped and restored.

The result of this process is the guaranteed restoration of the car’s standard geometric shape.

Re-diagnosis
After the main repair stage, a second diagnostic check is performed to assess the results of the restoration. Any inaccuracies or overlooked issues from the previous stage will be identified and corrected. This ensures that the final quality of the restoration is flawless.
